Introduction:
Since 1991, Randy W. Schekman has been an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. At the Schekman Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley, he has conducted experiments on the molecular description of membrane components and vesicle transport processes in eukaryotic cells. For his pioneering work on vesicle transport in cell membranes, he was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
